Digital Bangladesh Mela 2020-The first fair

To introduce Digital Bangladesh to you in a new way, Digital Bangladesh Mela 2020 was organized at Bangabandhu International Conference Center from 16 to 18 January 2020 under the initiative of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and ISPAB. People Came and explored the present, tomorrow and future of Bangladesh's digital age

The Digital Bangladesh Mela 2020 ran from January 16 to 18, showcasing next-generation 5G internet technology. Prime Minister’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed inaugurated the three-day expo at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at Agargaon in the Capital.

Chinese company Huawei was present at the event and they showcased 5G at different levels of integration at the fair for visitors. There was gigabit-level speed testing, real-time VR gaming and automation on showcase at Huawei’s podium.

A total of 100 stalls, pavilions, and mini pavilions, including that of Huawei, Ericsson, BTCL, bKash, Nagad, and ISPs like AmberIT, Link3, Smile, etc. were present at the fair.

Ministers and digital technology experts from home and abroad attended seminars and panel discussions were conducted.

The fair also featured a robot show, where the interactive humanoid robot will play soccer following the command of hand gestures.

There was a play zone where visitors can experience real-time virtual reality (VR) test through 5G technology.

The Posts and Telecommunications Division is organizing the event in which both local and foreign private entities in the digital technology sector will take part.

A total of 100 stalls, pavilions, and mini pavilions, including that of Huawei, will be installed at the fair.

Ministers and digital technology experts from home and abroad attended seminars and panel discussions about the present and future of technology, the talent gap, the digital economy, digital growth, smart city, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.

Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Thursday expressed his optimism that the export of the country’s IT and technology sector will exceed earnings from garments sector within a very short time as the sector is growing very rapidly. He also expressed his hope that the country will roll out 5-G technologies with the rest of the world and said, “We are heading to 5G. And the number of national and international organizations are also working with the same vision. We need to utilize their competency to get the most benefit. For example, Huawei is one of those international organizations that are playing an important role in 5G expansion all over the world with the largest number of 5G patents. In 2018, we demonstrated a 5G trial with Huawei. Now they have come with 5G show and the people are going to experience 5G for the first time in Bangladesh through this digital fair”.
