How to be a content writer in Bangladesh
So without any further words, let’s get into this content on how to start a content writing career. I will discuss 3 different chapters that you have to follow if you want to get your foot in the door of content writing. Just walk with me into the deep of this content and be ready for a successful career.
Chapter 1: Sharpen up your skillset
I think you know the all-time famous painter Leonardo da Vinci, who painted the best painting “Mona Lisa”. Didn’t he need great skill in painting? Yes, of course. In the same way, whatever you want to do, first you have to build skillsets to be an expert on that particular field. Here, I want to tell you 18 skills that you must acquire to be a master of content writing.
Knowing your reader’s intentions
If I am asking you, why do you read this content? You must say to know the detailed information about content writing. That’s right! But how do you feel if I can’t understand your reading intention and write something about how to ride a motorcycle? You feel irritating and must kick my words on the very first appearance.
So you also have to grab this skill before holding a digital pen and paper to write content online. That means know your readers and just hit the words on the point. That’s set. But if you can’t identify the readers’ pain points, no one will read your content, and you will be a flop writer.
Be practical, logical, and also emotional when you are a content writer. Practically try to touch the readers’ pain points, logically try to write the information, and emotionally try to place the words. Then wait, all these three things work magically to make you a pro writer.
Learning how to make a good structure
You most probably agree with me on the topic of great structure. A great structure can build a strong foundation of a building, in the same way a low structure can collapse with an airflow. Building up your content formatting or structuring skill is important to describe what you want to say to your readers.
There are different types of content, and all of them have a different format to present. You can’t put them all in the same mold of writing. That looks odd, and the readers can’t scan the content. You may ask me if I am writing severe content; why do I focus on the reader’s scanning?
No matter on which topic you are writing. In this competitive world, nobody has too much time to read your entire content. Even the harsh reality of this writing world, more than 70% of readers first scan your content. If they realize this content has some potential information for them, then they start to read. Maybe you also do this scanning when you first look at this content. So learn content formatting.
Writing original and unique content
Do you like to read copied content? Hopefully, not. So how can you think your reader will want to read copied content. Not only that, Google penalizes the sites which have duplicated content.
So you have to write from your head and heart, not from other’s writing.
You can read different writers’ posts to get knowledge and information about the topic, but you have to be original while writing. Here, I secretly give you a tip on writing unique content.
Read the Reddit posts, forums, and product reviews to get an initial overview of the subject’s people. That’s why you don’t need to rewrite the existing contents.
Patience vs. research skill
The more you have the patience to research, the more you can be a successful content writer. I don’t think you need patience only for researching content writing information. You need patience skills for researching niche, keyword, content information, and many other things. If you want to launch your own website, you must have the patience for all those essential things. Sometimes it may happen you are getting frustrated and disappointed. But, still there is no option but research.
Learning search engine optimization (SEO) and WordPress
You know very well that your content will be published on the search engine, and from there, you will reach your desired readers. Moreover, WordPress is the most famous tool to publish your content. That’s why you have to learn the basics about WordPress and search engine optimization tactics.
Google is always updating its algorithm, so you have to be smart enough to learn them and be a front-line content writer. If you can write high-quality, well-formatted, in-depth researched, and search engine optimized content, you will win the battle of content writing.
Language Skills
Yes, language is very crucial to communicate with one another. When you’re planning to be a content writer, you must have a good command of the language. There are three things you have to focus on language spelling, grammar, and choice of words. But, don’t be afraid if your language skill isn’t too much upgraded.
Never give up; every day, read and write some words that will boost up your language skill. Even, there is a lot of software to assist you. You can use Grammarly or computers’ own software to check your grammar and spelling errors. But strong word choice skills will build up with practice. There is no software that can help you.
Setting up questions and their answers
No issues on which subject you are writing. You have to craft a series of questions by which you can describe the general information on the specific points. If you can present the questions and short answers just below the questions, you can write readers engaging content. For example, suppose, you are writing content on content writing.
Then some questions that you have to answer to increase your readers’ knowledge.

Have you wished to read the content? Most probably not.
So you also have to be a master of writing appealing, eye-catchy, and problem-solving titles to sustain your content writing career.
Writing a superb engaging intro and hook the readers
Do you like to catch fish with a spear, or have you ever seen the situation? If your answer is yes, then you know in this process you have to show the greed of food to hook fish with your spear. In content writing, your reader’s engaging intro is the spear of your content to hook the readers to your content.
Content’s intro is the best place to craft your creativity. If you can write a super-duper introduction, you can put the readers in your shoes to walk a long journey together. Contrariwise, if you fail to engage the readers with your content, they will throw your content into the digital dustbin. Google adorably has named this dustbin “bounce rate.” So you have to enhance your all-round intro writing skill to reduce bounce rate.
Maintaining readability rules
In most cases, the mass people will be your readers. So you have to write your speech in common but strong words. That will help your readers to understand your writing easily. Content writing isn’t the place where you showcase your vocabulary ocean. You know simplicity is the best weapon to win the game. Here I’m discussing 5 readability factors.
One to one conversation
Write your content like you are making a conversation with your reader one Stu one. When you are addressing your reader, write “you,” and when you address yourself, write “we” or “I.” This writing tone will ensure you are talking with the reader personally, and he/she will enjoy reading your content.
Write active voice
Always try to use active voice to transform your information to the readers. Yes, sometimes some information will look better if you use passive voice. Use it but not too much.
Using short sentence instead of long
Look at this content that you are reading now. You find here most of the sentences are short but make sense. Always write short sentences. If once you write a long sentence, nothing to worry about! During editing, split the long sentence into some short sentences.
Stick to specific topics
It’s just to stick to a single topic when you are writing because it’ll help the readers to maintain the reading flow. Still, they can quickly grab the information that you are saying. A successful content writer can easily stick to the topic, not to overload or confuse the readers.
Avoiding filler words
Sometimes it’s a big problem for a content writer to describe anything in little words. No one wants to read too many words to know little information. To adopt the skill you have to avoid filler words while writing. For example,
- You are able to write content that can engage the readers.
- You can write readers engaging content.(No filler words)
Which sentence do you like to read between these two sentences? Of course, the second one because the first sentence has 11 words and the second sentence has 6 words, but both convert the same meaning.
Lastly, you have to acquire the readability skills to be a successful content writer.
Using a source of information if needed
You know all the information that you get from the internet is not believable. That’s also true for content writing. You have to use information sources if needed to increase your content’s authenticity, transparency, and accuracy.
If you link the source of information, that means you are brave enough to show your adequate research before presenting the words. Even by using external links, you tell Google you don’t write false information to the readers. Google likes this attitude most and it increases your site’s ranking.
Making internal link
As a content writer, you also have the responsibility to hold the readers to your post for as long time as possible. That will help you to increase your site’s conversation rates. Even if you can transfer the readers to your other content by pushing them through your writing, that will be great for you.
You have to learn the skills of how to write content and place inter-related content within writing natural words in your present content. Still, this skill will help you stand out from the thousands of content writers, and everybody can recognize you separately.
Idea generation and implementation
Maybe generating an idea is essential but implementing that idea in your writing is 100 times more important. Most writers face the biggest challenge and lose confidence in this section. But when you are always brainstorming, then you can produce lots of ideas in your thoughts. If one idea gets flop, don’t be upset. Maybe another stronger idea will come; who knows. So be steady and focus on your idea generation skill.
Summarizing capability
Do you know most readers tend to read the first part and the last part of the content? So you have to understand how to summarize your thousands words conversation within 40-50 words.
It is one of the iconic skills of content writing. In this case, write a complete content overview, and focus points.
Your readers will get an 80-90% of information by consuming these words. After that if they think they have to read the full content, they will come back to the content’s starting point and go through the full content.
Write Call to Action
I think you don’t like to carry an order, but you want to perform any task if someone can convince you, right. As a content writer, you have this simple responsibility to convince your reader by writing engaging calls to action words. For example,
- You can write to provide a name and email account to increase your email subscribers.
- You can write to hit a comment about his/her experience after following this content.
- You can tell them to read another related content of your page.
- You can tell the readers to share your content through social media if they think it is helpful for his/her friends.
Review skill
Don’t think what you have written on the first chance is the perfect writing. You have to divide your content writing into two groups. First writing, then taking a break to relax and second reviewing. When you check your writing, you’ll get lots of big to silly mistakes, such as spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc.
You can overcome all these mistakes and polish your writing only by reviewing your paper from the readers’ perspective. Before giving the complete seal to the content, at least check it for 4-5 times.
Experiment with your writing styles
Never all the time write your words in a specific niche, topic, or subject. It’ll tie you in a limitation; even you’ll lose your interest in further writing. Writing is a creative work, and creativity comes when you write in various genres.
Don’t always put your pen and paper in your comfort zone, think outside the box, and experiment on writing in a 360° opposite directed niche. This practice will help you to enhance your writing skills and knowledge in different fields of content writing.
Persistence
It’s natural; you will get bored, frustrated, disappointed, or irritated by continuous writing. But when you are performing as a professional content writer, you must be persistent in your projects. In this case, you can change your writing niche or take a short break from writing. Then you must tend to start writing again.
Enhancing your skill is a life long continuous process, and you don’t have any end mark. Still, if you can develop all the skills mentioned above, I can say now you are ready to go to the further steps of your writing profession.
Chapter two: Presenting yourself in the market
Now, you are one step ahead of your career. Once you have sharpened up your writing skills, then shout to the market. Oh, don’t really think I’m telling you to shout like an ox. Basically, I am telling you to let the clients know you are here to serve them in their content marketing. Here are some hacks of marketing yourself as a brand of content writer.
Making a portfolio
Yeah, a good portfolio is the best effective path to showcase your writing skills in front of the employees and clients. Overall, you can show your real-life writing examples to them instead of only empty words, as I am saying about making a portfolio, so it’s my responsibility to let you know how you make a polished portfolio.
How to create a client killer portfolio?
When you are starting your writing journey, it may seem challenging to build a portfolio. Here are some tips for creating a portfolio.
Own blog
If possible, launch your own blog and publish your writing there. You can show the clients your own live project as a sample of your writing. What can be more efficient than live writing! Nothing.
Guest posting
You can write for other projects as a guest writer. You don’t get any payment for your writing, but you can publish your writing under your name as a guest writer. It’s another way to build your portfolio.
Medium post
Do you know about the Medium? It’s a free app where you can publish your writing in your profile. You can write on Medium to uplift your writing skills before the world. Yes, through the medium, you can earn, but it’s a long and challenging process. I don’t want to bring your focus to that particular point, but it’s simple to use as a portfolio.
Using Social Media and its hashtag
Once you can think of social media as a part of your entertainment, or sharing your day-to-day updates to your friends, or only for giving Likes, Comments, or Share. Now the scenario is changing. Social media are the tool of your practical, easy and free marketing. Only by using your intelligence you can turn these social media into the best supportive way of marketing.
Use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn to communicate with the writing and marketers community. Join your career-related groups, observe the group members’ activities, build a strong relationship with them by commenting. After that, write some posts by showing your writing skills. One more word for your successful content marketing: don’t forget to use the exact hashtag in your post; it’ll higher your posts’ chance of maximum reach. Hopefully, you get a better result from them.
There is the short end of marketing your writing to inform your presence in the content writing world. Now, move on to the third chapter of this content.
Chapter three: Finding suitable work and getting paid
Like everything you’re reading so long, that will go in vain unless you can manage a job and make money. Even, it’s the focus of my conversation. So without waiting for you any more move on the points to discuss.
Find freelance work from native marketers.
It’s not a philosophy; you are bound to find native freelance work. Basically, it’s my personal choice. Let me describe some reasons for this choice.
You can easily communicate with native marketers because both of your languages are the same. As a result, you don’t hesitate to speak.
Though your native clients pay you a little, they will be cooperative, sympathetic, and understandable. Initially, if you make any silly mistake, they will tell you cooperatively and give proper guidance to overcome this challenge.
At last, when you’re trying to receive payment from international clients, you have to maintain a global payment method policy. Sometimes that will make hassle for you as you aren’t using this system. So there is a chance to demotivate about the work. But when you work with a native employer, you can take payment on mobile banking or bank transfer. As simple as it is!
If you make any mistake, your native clients won’t give a bad review. So you can work with another client by updating your skills. But when you work with the international market place, there is a high chance to get a bad review for your poor work performance. Mostly, a bad review is enough to ruin your profile.
On top-notch, if you can’t manage native work, satisfy clients, and make temporary clients into permanent clients, how can you manage international clients? If you can manage native clients, you get the confidence to handle international clients. So you can run in your career like a tiger; you don’t need to look back.
Hopefully, these reasons are enough to justify my choice: rest is your decision.
Create a profile on the market place
Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer are the most famous and well-known international marketplaces for managing a writing job or starting as a freelance content writer. For this
First, create a profile in your preferred marketplace. But before that, do your own research to avoid any mistakes. Here a simple mistake can suffer you long.
Second, write and publish a short, informative, and accurate gig by showcasing your skills. In your gig, mention everything. Such as writing style, word count, pay per word charge or per K charge, delivery time, etc. I want to share a simple tip from my personal experience, which is, initially, don’t charge too much.
Third, bid on the job which suits you best. Never unwisely bid all the jobs that you find in the marketplace. While bidding on the jobs, carefully read the full job post and answer them according to the job posts’ demand. By maintaining all those processes, you can manage your desired work.
Delivering work
After managing the order, always try to deliver it on time. If you face any problem while writing, don’t hesitate to ask for enough information from the clients. They will be happy if you ask them relevant questions. They can understand you are worthy enough for their jobs. If you don’t know anything about writing, you can’t ask them these relevant questions.
Receiving payment
You can receive payment from Fiverr, Upwork, or other freelance marketplaces using PayPal and Payoneer accounts. But using PayPal is not legal in Bangladesh. So Payoneer is the last way of receiving payment.
For this, you have to open a Payoneer account or buy it from a third party. As a beginner, opening an account is excellent. While creating a Payoneer account, carefully write all of your personal information because it will handle all of your international transactions. If you can’t understand alone, take experts’ help to create the account. But, never ignore this critical issue.
Final words
Now, it’s time to summarize this long blog post. Here I have tried to walk you through me in-depth content on how to start a content writing career. On top of the conversation, the best lesson is to choose this career from passion, from heart, and from enthusiasm. Don’t put your footprint in this sector by seeing others succeed or as a hobby.
